Hi everyone, my name is Bonnie and as one of the founders, I serve as the lead author and gardener for Organic Gardeners HQ. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve had a deep love of the natural world nurtured by my grandparents with whom I grew up. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of helping “Grams and Gramps” in their expansive backyard organic garden.
I was absolutely fascinated watching them coax bountiful harvests from the living soil year after year, without any synthetic chemicals. They taught me all about building healthy ecosystems, the magic of compost and how nurturing pollinators and beneficial insects actually prevents the vast majority of pests. Even at a young age, I took such joy and pride in eating food we had grown with our own hands.
This early introduction is largely what fueled my career-long passion for organic and sustainable agriculture today. I’ve always enjoyed exploring innovative techniques and unusual heirloom crops that nourish both body and spirit. Through years of trial and error on my own homestead, I’ve become fascinated by biomimicry principles which align growing practices to complement natural balances.
As the head writer at OGHQ, It brings me great fulfillment sharing the many valuable lessons I’ve learned from decades spent gardening. I hope readers feel emboldened to strengthen their own connections to the land through seasonal growing guided by respect for Mother Nature’s rhythms. With a little attention to building soils, we truly can cultivate kitchen gardens that support wellness in all its forms.
